Shortage of staff / Operational restrictions
Dear customers and tenants of AFG,
Unfortunately, we are still struggling with acute staff shortage in the operational area, especially in
airport operations. The recruiting process is extremely difficult and lengthy. In addition, several
weeks of health-related absences in this area are now making the situation even worse. Due to
approval requirements by EASA, flight operations without a duty airport operations manager is not
possible in EDMA.
For these reasons, we had to find the best possible compromise in coordination with the Southern
Bavaria Aviation Authority with regard to a temporary adjustment of our operating hours in order
to remain able to meet this requirement with the existing staff. In the appendix you will find a
corresponding restriction on our operating hours for the period November 9th, 2023 to March 31st,
2024.
I can assure that we are working hard to improve the situation.
If we are able to return to our regular operating hours before March 31, 2024, we will of course do
so immediately. However, I ask for your understanding that successfully recuited staff requires
several months of training.
I can only sincerely apologize for this situation, but at the same time point out that unfortunately
there is no alternative.
